I am fortunate enough to still have child number three at home. So while she sometimes whittles down my will to live with her relentless curiosity, most of the time she is a hilarious, spirited little companion. She is also bloody handy as a model for my photography, as well as my co-captain on location hunting days such as today. With some stormy weather today I got all inspired to work with the elements. My muse however is equipped with a busy nature and a vivid imagination so she spent a lot of the time being a squirrel or a lion, or a tiger. I don’t know, it can be hard to keep up with the characters but just suffice to say it didn’t involve standing still. So you go about capturing images of her with a fast shutter speed and a nifty little function on my Canon called Al Servo. It’s job is to track moving objects for locking down focus and boy did I need it today. We did manage to get some of the shots I was after which I’ll share tomorrow and got in a lot of good practice, but for now I think this highlights basically what our shoot this morning looked like:
Eventually though when I can get this busy bee to stand still for long enough, I get to capture her in all her energetic curly spirited glory. A third of my heart and soul. I’m off to sneak some kisses while they all sleep.
MERRY CHRISTMAS ...... What? To soon?
I know it seems ridiculous to be talking Christmas already but here we are in mid October with Hall Decking and Ho Ho Hoing hurtling towards us. And I’m not even feeling that premature with the Xmas prep as I am a good month behind DJ’s who had their Xmas decorations out before mid Sept no less. I mean, really, September? I absolutely adore Xmas but I genuinely feel for the poor salespeople that have 3 full months of Christmas carols playing at work. Pretty sure even I, Christmas carol lover, would be Bing Crosby’d out by the start of November. I digress, the festive season is coming and now is the time to book in for some Christmas photos. On the 2nd of November I’ll be holding a day of mini sessions in an outdoor location with festive themed props available. The session includes 10 personalised Xmas cards and one 8×10″ print so you can sort a Chrissy present right there. There will only be a limited number of session so book now to make sure you don’t miss out.
Took my daytime companion down to the duck pond recently and, well … we fed some ducks, as you do, but I also took the opportunity to have a bit of a play with some reflections. Thankfully my busy little model indulged me for a bit. Apart from the fact that she amazes me all the time I love the chance to work on some of my own photos and have a play with some different effects.
Also have lots of great sessions coming up where I’ll get to stretch the creativity so very excited about October. I shall keep you posted. So nice to be able to do something you love 🙂
Following are a few tips on what to wear for a photography session. Hope it helps 🙂
